The trouble with Hillary

Posted on Updated on

Hillary

In 1992 Bill Clinton had the charisma thing but he also had the message thing.  His message was “It’s the economy stupid.”  Hillary isn’t Bill, and it may be partly due to the Bernie thing.  Bernie Sanders, promising everything to everyone, well, at least as much as 18 trillion in new spending according to The Wall Street Journal, started making poor Hillary look down right conservative.  How can Hillary compete?  So instead of a focus, she’s spinning wildly, like a grandmother with her finger locked down on the trigger of an automatic weapon, spraying bullets in every direction, unable to relax her grip.  Her focus so far includes climate change, LGBT rights, gun control, free college, minimum wage, family leave, path to citizenship, and even UFO’s.  Taken one at a time, they’re phenomenal liberal causes.  Taken as a collective list of goals, it’s just plain socialism.

If Hillary does manage to hone in on one target to focus her campaign, the going may still be tough.  There’s still the charisma thing.

Oscars

Ready or not, here comes the season of the over-hyped celebrity.  The time of year when we can’t get enough award shows that honor people who live in an alternate reality…  a fantasy world, where thinking’s not allowed, where everything is scripted.  Unless it’s not, then it’s called ad libbing and embraced as masterful shrewdness.

Now imagine that we don’t know the names of actors.  The names of people who pretend to be other people.  Who pretend to be cops, teachers, mail carriers, nurses, and plumbers.

Then imagine we honored those who’s every movement is unscripted and ad libbed.  Imagine if we knew the names of those who actually serve us, like cops, teachers, mail carriers, nurses and plumbers.

A military that’s brought to its knees

Sorry

The detention of US military personnel and the pictures of our own fighting force on their knees in front of Iranian captors is an image that sums up the Obama legacy quite well.

…a country, once strong and proud, now forced to its knees.

These sailors ended up in Iranian territorial waters leading to confrontation, capture and subsequent release.  It certainly could have gone worse, and for that we’re thankful, but the circumstance plus the images paint a picture for the world to see of a country, once strong and proud, now forced to its knees.  A Navy that could once boast of having 6,768 ships, down to 272.  A history of US Presidents portraying strength as Commanders in Chief, now a President that grovels to dictators, monarchs, and emperors.  A US President who’s arrogant to his own citizens while at the same time capitulating to oppressive rulers.

A country that once had the respect around the globe, now being dictated to by an Iranian government.

Hope for Change

This President has a unique track record.  He says ISIS isn’t a threat, then on that very day they attack Paris.  Next he mocks Republicans by saying they’re afraid of women and orphans, then a deadly terrorist attack in California involving a woman.

We really shouldn’t think of orphans as a problem, but now we’re not so sure.

Shameful

It’s amazing to us that some can blame the shooting at the Colorado Planned Parenthood clinic on heat Republican candidates have put on the organization.  Well for goodness sake, let’s not talk about the horrific acts that go on in those places and worse yet the cavalier attitude the personnel have when it comes to “harvesting” body parts.  While we’re at it, we should also stop any further discussions of the WWII concentration camps.  We wouldn’t want anyone to feel bad.

Looking forward to Social Security at about the time I’m bouncing great great grandkids on my knee.

social security

A few things worth considering related to Social Security, especially if you’re a few years away from retirement….

In 2015, $900 billion was spent on social security.

In 2005, $530 billion was spent on social security.

The work force has dropped 4.5% since 2000.

We’ve nearly doubled Social Security expenditures in 10 years and simultaneously seen a drop in the work force that funds it.  Key the dramatic Michael-Meyers-is-behind-the-bedroom-door music folks ’cause we’re looking at trouble.

In spite of our borrow and spend mentality – by Congress that is – it’s actually illegal for the country to borrow money to keep Social Security in the black.  Huh?  “Does not compute” you say.  “I thought that’s how we solved all of our problems.”  Sorry folks, time to be grown ups.

Whatever the answer, it’s quite likely that by the year 2030, Social Security will look very different than it does today.   The primary differences will be in who gets it and when eligibility kicks in.  So if you won’t be retiring for a few years, your financial planning should likely not include Social Security.  Oh and one more thing, along the way the government will be dipping into your pockets to start paying back the 10’s of trillions of dollars of debt.

Clinton plays the less-than-cool prom queen wannabe. Laughing inappropriately, better known as Hillary Hilarity

Hillary Hilarity

Ever notice how some people, being so desperate to fit in with the cool kids, suddenly display a knack for laughing at inappropriate times.  Hillary seems to fall squarely in that category, a common trait for homely girls in high school trying to garner some minor level of popularity but only ending up tripping over their shoe laces and falling face first into jello salad.

But at least Hillary wouldn’t stoop so far as to resort to a wig, no matter how symbolic that would be of her phony attempts at improving her popularity or her acceptance as one of the cool kids.

What Media Bias? Finding the left leaning slant is easier than you think.

Posted on Updated on

We’d like to tell you that we read the Washington Post so you don’t have to but that may commit us to suffering that we can’t tolerate for too many days straight. For today though, we’re taking that bullet. The Tuesday, November 17, 2015 Post is a great example of bias in the media getting passed off as journalism … and we didn’t even have to get past page one.

First, the article Suspected Recruiter, Organizer by Anthony Faiola and Souad Mekhennet describes a January 2, 2015 raid in Verviers, Belgium where…

“Homegrown terrorist were plotting to gun down police officers, and they discussed their plans by phone with a superior in Athens.”

I don’t think “homegrown” means what they think it means. The article later identifies Abdelhamid Abaaoud as the superior and that he had slipped through the hands of authorities in Athens, Greece. Abaaoud, as you may now know, is the suspected mastermind behind the Paris attacks. So an article about the Paris attacks, is linked to Belgium where recruits are guided from Athens. Apparently “home” means they could be from anywhere on earth. And here we thought a homegrown terrorist was someone without broad support who locally masterminds his or her own evil plans. I guess it makes liberals feel all fuzzy inside with the “homegrown” label. Of course that feeling of fuzz may just be mold. But alas, we can be comforted knowing that the “JV” team that attacked Paris isn’t from Mars. Now that’d be something to worry about.

Our second example today is the “The Islamic State Strategy” by Craig Whitlock and Ellen Nakashima also appearing on the front page.  The article states that the devastating attacks on Paris and Russia mean that …

“the Islamic State has embraced what appears to be an irrational strategy…”

What?! Say it isn’t so … irrational terrorists?! No one could have predicted that! Well, by all means President Obama is faultless in his faulty war on terror, especially since these terrorists are irrational.  Not fair terrorists! Stick to the playbook. We put flower stems in our own automatic weapon barrels and then you’re supposed to join us for baked ham on Thanksgiving.

One last item, also on the front page, are photos of people observing the moment of silence. Wonder why the President isn’t pictured?  Probably because he entered the G20 conference late, while the other leaders participated in the moment of silence.

So there you have it, our suffering today only lasted through the top half of the first page.

Confederacy of Drones

Fighting back at the confederacy of drones, the mindless segment of the population that blindly accepts the media, allows others to do their thinking and worships at the celebrity alter.  We expose the bias, hyperbole and out-right lies that prey on the gullible, the lazy, and the gimme-free-stuff sucklers.  And we do it with a sense of humor.
